Lent

I usually participate in Lent, but I just kind of go through the motions, and don’t really care and whatnot. At work Wednesday, my friend asked me what I was gonna give up for a Lent. I hate this question cause I can never really think of anything.  I usually just go for the typical candy, sweets, etc. So I was dishleading and I have a somewhat new kid, he asked me if he could leave work 20 minutes early, and I was like “ehhhh, I really don’t want you to.” I mean I asked why, and he said so he could go to church. It shocks me. Like I know obviously there are religious people at colleges and are actually active in their faith, but it just kind of made me reevaluate myself as a Christian. Not once have I ever been to church up here at State, cause I know I can get away with it, because “I’m too busy.” So I talked to this kid, and he said that during Lent I should go to church every Sunday when I’m up here, and that sounded pretty fair. I also told myself that I would read “The Hole in our Gospel” everyday. A bible verse stuck out to me while I was reading it…

“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world shame the strong” (1 Cor 1:27)

Sorry for those who aren’t religious. I just needed to express this somehow. So basically what I’m DOING for Lent is being active in my faith.
